Who AM I?
Hi! Tiffany here.
I’m from Toronto, Canada, but now I live with my husband in Seattle, WA. I earned my Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto in 2016, where I studied English, Philosophy, and Writing & Rhetoric. (I’ve always loved grappling with tough questions and then trying to answer them as clearly and eloquently as possible. I’m not saying I’m good at that, mind you, but I love trying.) I’ve recently graduated (2025) from Antioch University Seattle, where I received my master’s degree in Couple & Family Therapy.
I’ve always been fascinated with psychology, but I didn’t fall in love with therapy until I found the right therapist for me, in my early thirties. (Finding the right person for you really makes a difference.) My husband and I were in couples therapy, on the brink of divorce, and our therapist not only saved our marriage but she completely improved our lives in the best possible ways. I can think of no greater purpose than offering that same gift to others. So now, here I am, willing to offer what I can to those for whom I might be the right person at the right time to help them with their goals.
As a human being in general, my top priority is to have people feel safe with me. I’m a flawed human being who will make mistakes, and I want to know what those are so I can try to repair and do better. As a therapist, I want to help clients feel comfortable enough to share how I’m affecting them because I care about that and because more meaningful work can be done and more insights can be had from that place. So please let me know what makes you more comfortable, since it’s different for everyone and it’s all valid.
Fun facts:
• I’m neurodivergent and diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD). (I once believed I would never be able to be a therapist because of that, which is why I originally chose to pursue writing/editing. Now I hope to reduce the stigma of mental health issues wherever I go! I now believe these are superpowers of mine.)
• I love philosophy and can ponder life’s big questions for hours: free will vs. determinism vs. compatibilism; metaphysics; ethics; and more. Philosophy was my first teacher of the importance of always having an open mind; science was the second.
• I love reading or watching science fiction and fantasy, playing survival or strategy video games (The Long Dark, Don’t Starve Together, Civilization V), and making 3D models or renderings in my spare time.
• I once debated a cult leader on his podcast. He complimented my tough questions, saying I was “making him sweat,” asked if anyone else had any easier questions (they didn’t volunteer any), and finally landed on a tactic of declaring he had answered my questions already and I should’ve understood that. It was a fun time! :)
• I’m an identical twin, and my sister is currently studying to become a therapist. I’m so excited for her!
