What is your cancellation/reschedule policy?I offer a 3-hour cancellation/reschedule policy for all session types (except marathons), meaning that there will be no fee due with that much notice. With less than 3 hours notice, the full cost of the session is due (except if you are using insurance). Industry standard is 24-48 hours, but I don’t want therapy to ever feel like a “have to” if something else comes up.
*Please note that 3 instances of late-cancel/reschedule (less than 3 hours notice) within a 6-month rolling period means I may terminate services. Also, if you frequently reschedule/cancel, I may terminate services. (I try to discuss solutions with you first, if possible!) ****If you are using insurance, there will be no cost due because insurance disallows it.What insurance do you accept? What are superbills?Aetna is the only insurance I’m currently in network with.
For all other insurances, I can offer a superbill that you could submit to your insurance to potentially receive an “out of network provider” reimbursement. You’d have to find out if your insurance offers this and what their reimbursement rate is — usually by calling the number on the back of your card, or logging into your insurance portal.
Couples or family therapy is sadly not covered by insurance, so that must be private pay only.
What happens if I no-show to a scheduled session?The full cost of the scheduled session would still be due if you are private pay. In this case, I offer a courtesy Make-up Session that the fee can be applied to. After the missed session, I offer a limited number of times convenient to me over the next two weeks. If a time aligns, we schedule it and there will be no fee for that session.
*Please note that 3 no-shows in a rolling 6-month period means I may terminate services. **A make-up session cannot be rescheduled, and this courtesy may not always be extended. ***Marathon sessions cannot be made up, due to the significant time and financial loss. ****If you are using insurance, there will be no cost due (as insurance disallows it), so no make-up session is needed. Can I be driving during a session, or out of the state?No! Safety and laws first.
If you’re parked in a safe location, that’s fine, unless there are others in the vehicle with you in a way that compromises the privacy of your session (i.e., they are not participants in the therapy).
If you’re out of state at the time of the therapy appointment, my license does not allow me to see you because laws (including the ones relevant to therapy) are different in every state.
